Have I ever mentioned that we have a "professional" tie dyer at CREATE? Well it all started months ago when I met this young lady named Grace. Now Grace had come in as a birthday party guest but little did I know she would become one of our most frequent guests or one of our BEST Tie Dyers.
First off I must admit that prior to opening CREATE I don't recall ever actually tie dying anything myself. But Wendy convinced me that tie dying was easy peasy. So like most things these days I decided to give it a try. If it is on You Tube surely I can do it...remind me one day to tell another You Tube story. So I order some spray bottle of fabric paint colors and off we went towards tie dying. And you know what, it for the most part turned out fabulous and quite colorful.
Now back to Grace...the first time she came in to tie dye I think she was a bit overcome with the paint fumes and added a bit too much color to her shirt. The next time she came in she made the most AWESOME swirls and then the fumes took over again and the colors started calling out "Add more, Add more", so she did. By the next time Grace was beginning to get a really good ideas of what worked and what didn't. So she starts in, some color here, a burst there, a stencil, a tid bit more color ...then the fumes start to take over but a gentle reminder that sometimes less is more and she regains control. The end result was a beach towel of beautiful colors that resembled Grace's personality and spirit.
Now fast forward several weeks..Tie Dye Extravaganza Part 2. Grace is NO LONGER overcome by the fumes and beautiful, professional tie dye pieces of art are being produced one after another. Just call her "Colorful Swirls" the next time you pass her. Thank you Grace for helping us find the way to a more colorful world! ~Lisa
